hi, my name's Whitney! long time fan of Mark's videos, he's been an incredible resource for me and i'm excited to join the community he's fostered!

i'm a musician, and my main impetus for getting into tube tech is in pursuit of radical tools with which to make music, but i'm fascinated with every aspect of how tube (and all) circuits work, and my focus and skillset are mutifaceted.

my main aim is making some killer recording preamps for guitar, bass and vocals that actually use proper high voltage and cheap, under-utilized mini's and submini's, as well as unique and innovative design. i am just as inspired with the insane, self-destructing ring modulators and relaxation oscillators pioneered by Bebe and Louis Barron, and aim to create some 'chaos boxes' for applications in which one wants certain parameters to stay controlled/measured, and the rest to be unchained and unpredictable so to speak 😈

both the preamp and the effects are beyond my current capability - i barely knew how electricity worked 9 months ago 😆 but i've been studying hard and often, and have come a long way in the past year or so. i can now safely bias an amp, install a bias pot and perform other simple mods, and can restore other vintage gear, as well as *actually* having a firm grasp on how electricity and circuits work!

i wouldn't be even close to where i am without Mark's help, the help of others creators/innovators/authors like Uncle Doug and Chris Chang and Merlin Blencowe. but more than anything, my best resource has been other forums such as this one! so I likely owe at least a few of you the biggest thanks 💖

i'm excited to be able to contribute in small ways where I can for now! please feel free to correct and comment on my knowledge, technique, understanding of concepts etc when you see my posts! here are a few of my current projects:
- restoration of Hammond Solovox Model L Series A, 3 octave monotonal tube synth from 1948
- restoration of Oregon Electronics D6 Power Supply unit, likely from mid-50's (if you have info/schematic please DM me)
- design and hand-build of Selmer Zodiac Twin 30 clone w/upgrades, such as combining the two channels... i'm aware this is a trickier first time build but i'm flat out OBSESSED with this amp and i can barely drop $45, let alone $4,500, on anything 😂😭🤪

Howdy from Texas. My name is Joe Kraft and I am an ER physician by training and an audio hobbyist for relaxation. I restore mainly vintage Accuphase and Sansui gear, but have done quite a bit of other stuff too. Always love to watch Mark's videos because he truly teaches me something every time I watch. Thanks Mark for all you do and I am very happy to be part of this forum.

Hello, my name is Kevin from Dublin Ireland. Did basic electronics in the 90's but was never called upon to use it. Spent 30 years involved in installing TV and audio facilities. As part of this I would have had to repair many pieces of equipment, replacing various components (under instruction) so I am handy with a soldering iron.
I have a stack system from the 90's but got interested in the vintage equipment once my son started buying records. I have had to fix various pieces for him, thankfully mostly mechanical problems.
Looking forward to learning and understanding and hopefully being able to contribute to the forums.

Hello everyone My name is Bruns and I am a novice electronic technician in training (fancy way of saying a beginner) Have been interested in tube gear for many years and finally with the help of these forums and youtube have acquired enough knowledge to service, repair and build some of these amps. I have expanded into vintage solid state and making guitar pedals, totally enjoying the experience. A big thanks to Mark for teaching me some of his knowledge and for making this site to share.

HI,
Rey here, I trained as a electronic tech back in the early 90s in San Diego. Started to work in a big company, doing a no skill required job and after a year the company was preparing me for even a more boring job. So I left and it killed my passion. The many years as a motorcycle mechanic and sales, but I always kept checking stereo mags and wowing at the tube amps.

So now I have a bit more time and less stress, so I decided to get back into it, still have my fluke. I want to build a few tube amps, got sketches done. Collecting some basic, test equipment, breadboard and a schematics source.

I ride and race mountain bikes, oh yeah I'm also into watchmaking another cheap hobby.

Hi Everybody! My name is Glen and I have enthusiastically been into audio as a hobbyist for over 45 years. I enjoy building kits, experimenting with circuits and listening to a plethora of music of all types and genres. I have mainly worked with solid state componentry and was attracted to Mark’s YouTube channel last year as I gained an interest in building a tube amp. I am looking forward to diving in!

Hi,
I'm Dave, originally from the UK and now living in KL - Malaysia for the past decade. Back in the mid 80's & early 90's I spent eight years as an electronics engineer working mainly on comptuer systems, networks and assorted periphals as well as deep diving into mainly Unix operating systems.

Since then I've been working in enterprise IT so my involvement in electronics fell right off. Then over the last four years when I started getting involved in industrial IoT, I was able to rediscover electronics!

I'm currently relearning the valve side of things, which I find just as interesting as digital and plan to relearn enough maths to design and build a nice valve amp, buy an old record deck to restore and maybe build rather than purchase some speakers.

It could be a while before I need to buy (again) my favorite Floyd, Zep and Sabbath albums on vinyl.

Hi everyone!
Name here is John, ham callsign is KN4JRF (that was my Dad's Novice callsign from the'50's).

I got my license in 1993, and quickly learned how much about radio and electronics I DIDN'T know, even after being in the USAF in electronics, working for a marine radio manufacturer and being Tech Ops manager for a cable tv company.

Now that I'm trying to restore some Hallicrafters tube receivers, I've learned that not only I don't know that much about electronics, but I also forgot most of the tube knowledge they taught me. Oh, well.

Hello,
My name is Henry N. To start out I have had some basic electronics in college. After college I worked as a manufacturing/process engineer in the electronics field. Most of this was in the aircraft electronics (micro electronics) industry. I worked with a number of electronics engineers that covers the design and troubleshooting of devices we built. I handled the manufacturing/process of the devices. After retirement I started to work on an old HH Scott 348B receiver that I purchased back 1970 and a Sherwood S-8900A. I have watched most of Mark’s YouTube videos. I appreciate his work and knowledge of electronics repair. Lots more for me to learn.
